I find myself singing "Always look at the bright side of life" from Life of Brian a lot lately. And you know what? It really does help.

Bow before me puny Surface Dwellers [Oct. 5th, 2007|02:39 pm]

First time on land? Terranaut, the robotic exploration vehicle art project by Seth Weiner, is definitely the way to go. A Blood Parrot fish gets his first taste of life on land, wheeling around in this luxurious fishbowl-on-wheels. A camera mounted above the tank captures a stream of images; this information is worked over by the onboard computer. Finally, the direction of motion is determined and the wheels move in the direction that the fish is swimming.

Granted, I think most of the people driving on the roads today have the awareness of a fish. Now, with this new technology, we really could have a fish driving along the roads!

Perserverance or Stupidity? [Mar. 5th, 2006|12:41 am]
[Tags|, , , , ]

Fun: Staying up late putting together a jigsaw puzzle with your mother.

Perserverant: It's mainly muddy blues and greens with no sharp edges. Human hands and faces stick out, and that's about it.

Stupid: It's a used puzzle that while complete, is in a different box than it came in. The same genre, but a totally different picture.

[music |Assemblage 23 - Horizon]

Music of the week: While I was listening to some random EBM/Gothic shoutcast stream, I heard this song. It's a hilarious (in my opinion) self sendup of gothic stereotypes. The artist is Adrian Alexis, who aside from this song also has done a few albums of Gothic/EBM music. It's not too bad at all (if you're into that sort of thing). Most of the songs from the albums are downloadable from his site, which is good since everything of his seems to be out of print.

Oh yes, and his site is a visual blasphemy, but at least it's not on myspace.

It's the little things [Nov. 30th, 2005|12:11 pm]

It's the little things in life that make me happy.

Like finding out that random asshats are in-lining my OMG-XBOX-Huge (2 MB) Hugin-stitched mural pictures into their forum threads. And then proceeding to replace that image with one of Brad Pitt dressed in women's clothing.

Delicious.

[music |The Crimson Ghosts - Reborn from Trioxine]

I always find great schaudenfraude in the exploits of audiophools. It seems that I am not the only one. One of many examples:

The Altmann Acoustic Panel: How much for an 80x50cm plank of wood? Two bucks? Maybe three? Hell no, this is audiophile wood. Yours for $240.

/sniff

It's so beautiful.

Cute quizlet: Hip-hop or Star Wars [Jun. 7th, 2005|10:11 am]

[music |REM - First we take Manhattan]

A cute quiz over at bbspot. Given that I'm neither much of a Star Wars fan or a follower of most Hip-Hop I'm not surprised I did poorly. But I didn't expect to do that badly.

[music |Sting - Moon over Bourbon Street]

This is a photo of a grave in Ramle, Israel. Evidently this is the grave of a fellow who died 66 years ago in fighting along the left bank. And now his grave stone attracts Harry Potter fans in fair numbers.

Odd.
